What is Intrinsic Aging?

Also referred to as the natural aging process, intrinsic aging is the natural decline of the condition of the skin that takes place beginning in the mid-20’s.  Around that time, decreased skin cell production of collagen and elastin, two fibers essential for skin elasticity, leads to less elastic skin that doesn’t quite snap back into place the way did during teenage years.  Additionally, skin cells do not regenerate and shed as quickly, further contributing to the problem.  Although intrinsic aging begins in the 20’s, symptoms, such as fine lines and wrinkles, are not usually observed for decades.

Signs of intrinsic aging include:
